PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has won all categories in the latest Philippines Mobile Network Experience Awards[1] by independent mobile analytics firm Opensignal.
The report, which covers the period Jan. 1 to Mar. 31, 2021, showed Smart beating the competition across all metrics in three essential aspects of service: Coverage (4G Coverage Experience, 4G Availability), Speed (Download and Upload Speed) and Experience (Games, Video and Voice app).
This is the first time an operator in the Philippines has won decisively in all categories.
“This breakthrough validates our unrelenting work towards delivering the best experience to our customers across the country, and gives us renewed energy to stay the course,” said Smart Communications President and CEO and PLDT Chief Revenue Officer Alfredo S. Panlilio.

The divide between rural and urban dwellers in New Zealand is narrowing as far as their mobile experience goes, a report claims, adding that however there were differences in what users experienced on the country s three networks.
Mobile analytics firm Opensignal said in
a report that all three mobile operators Spark, 2degrees and Vodafone provided acceptable services in comparison to operators in other countries.
But the firm s Sam Fenwick said 5G threatened to complicate the rural-urban picture further, unless both government and operators used 5G to further boost the rural experience.
