Santa Barbara County Public Health officials announced Friday afternoon that they will open up vaccination appointments to workers in education and childcare, agriculture and food, and emergency services starting March 1.
Those sectors are included in the state s Phase 1 B vaccination plan, including people 65 years of age and older.
Up to this point, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties have only opened up vaccinations to those 65+ along with healthcare workers and long-term care residents, which are in Phase 1A.

With a limited supply of doses and appointments, some people are traveling outside San Luis Obispo County to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
People eligible for the vaccine are driving from San Luis Obispo County to Bakersfield and Los Angeles to get their shots because they say they couldnât book one locally through county public health clinics or other providers like CVS. It was about five hours of being on hold, waiting, hoping that we could get in. Sometimes we could get close but never ringing the bell,â explained Pismo Beach resident Jack Krasner.
