San Mateo County’s coroner on Saturday identified a body that washed up near San Gregorio State Beach Friday as a Stockton man who had been reported missing in the area.
The body, found just before noon on Friday, was identified as Florentino Pasco Jr., 36, the coroner’s office said.
Pasco was reported missing on June 24 from Tunitas Creek Beach, about 2-1/2 miles north of San Gregorio, according to an Instagram post from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. It described Florentino as a transient who friends said separated from the group about 4 a.m. to go for a walk.

San Mateo County Sheriff s Office spokesperson Lt. Eamonn Allen said detectives are on their way to the scene to identify the body, a male in his 30s, whose description is consistent with Pasco s identity.Â
Pasco was reported missing from his group in the early morning on June 24. Sheriff s deputies began a search for the man, who his friends believed went into the water, but they were unable to find him. The San Mateo County Harbor District and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter aided in the search, which was called off that afternoon.
