SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A suspected DUI driver was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of killing three homeless people and injuring six others when his car jumped a curb in an East Village tunnel near San Diego City College and plowed into a makeshift encampment on the roadside.
Craig Martin Voss, 71 of San Diego, was arrested at the scene of the crash in the 1500 block of B Street shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, according to San Diego police.
Voss was behind the wheel of a westbound Volvo station wagon that veered to the right, off the roadway, and struck the transients, who were on a wide sidewalk amid several tents and various personal items, said SDPD Chief David Nisleit.

A few days later, Elizabeth was reportedly spotted near soccer fields at Liberty Station and again near the San Diego International Airport. Those leads, however, were nothing more than reported sightings and never panned out for detectives.
Police searched for the missing Navy wife and mother of two for two years. The mysterious case grew cold as her family pleaded for her safe return.
On Oct. 6, 2016, the case experienced a major break when Elizabeth’s decomposed body was found floating in the San Diego Bay near Farragut Road, about a half-mile from where she had last been seen alive years earlier.

The bystander was walking on an adjacent sidewalk near the convention center when they were hit in the buttocks by a bullet, according to SDPD Captain Richard Freedman. A protective glasses case in the bystander s back pocket prevented the bullet from penetrating their body, Freedman said.

The incident stemmed from a traffic stop on Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego moments before. Police said Horn pulled Quiroz over for allegedly running a stop sign on Harbor Drive just after 7 p.m.
ACLU files lawsuit seeking release or vaccination of more San Diego County inmates after latest Covid-19 outbreak
After a recent outbreak of Covid-19 infections at the largest correctional facility in San Diego County, a class-action lawsuit was filed Wednesday by the American Civil Liberties Union and a community advocacy group against San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore, demanding he protect local incarcerated people from further infections.
The lawsuit calls for Gore to reduce the jail population to levels where people can safely distance, as well as provide widespread vaccinations in jails at levels to ensure everyone’s safety.
