San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, Vice Mayor Warren Villa, and officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officially launched on Friday the city’s new container van quarantine facility to accommodate the growing number of COVID-19 patients.
The new quarantine facility was constructed by the DPWH under the Inter-Agency Task Force’s (IATF) “We Heal As One” program.

The fully converted container vans are located near the Pinaglabanan Shrine and each of the 52 rooms has its own bed, air conditioning unit, and toilet.
“I am happy that the container van facility is now done. This means we are much more equipped now to take on more asymptomatic patients and those who are experiencing mild symptoms so they can no longer infect their loved ones at home,” Zamora said.

Globe Telecom Inc. has provided free and unlimited GoWIFI connection to over 100 hospitals, and key sites nationwide.
Globe announced that on April 8, it started providing free GoWiFi services to select hospitals and other key locations nationwide “to extend connectivity support in the wake of rising coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.”
Of the 124 hospitals and sites provided with free and unlimited GoWIFI connection, 29 are located in Luzon, 49 in Metro Manila, 27 in Visayas, and 19 in Mindanao.
Among the hospitals in the National Capital Region (NCR) that have been given free and unlimited internet service were The Medical City (Ortigas), Rizal Medical Center, Pasig City Children’s Hospital and Pasig City General Hospital in Pasig City; Cardinal Santos Hospital and San Juan Medical Center in San Juan City; Manila Naval Hospital and St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC-Global City) in Taguig City; Balai Banyuhay Valenzuela Re

A total of 230 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines were received by the San Juan City government to inoculate health workers from San Juan Medical Center (SJMC) using the said vaccine on Thursday (March 11).

The city government said that 143 medical workers of SJMC signed up to be vaccinated using AstraZeneca vaccines, including 10 senior citizens.
Ret. Gen. Dr. Ramon Marin, chief of clinic at the SJMC was the first medical worker of the hospital to be vaccinated using the Oxford-made vaccine.

Villa also talked about the rising cases in Metro Manila and San Juan’s initiatives to minimize the infection.
“We already imposed new curfew hours. Exercising and non-contact sports are also temporarily prohibited at Pinaglabanan Shrine. Mass gatherings are also prohibited and more police officers are deployed to ensure that health protocols are followed. Extensive mass testing is also continuously done to contain our cases,” he said.
