A man who was thrown from a personal watercraft in Fort Myers on Saturday has been found dead.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says they responded to The Harborage community off US-41 after the report came in around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
The FWC says a 10-foot personal watercraft was being used on a private lake inside the community when 47-year-old Richard Brent Toms was thrown into the water and didn’t resurface.
Dive crews with the FWC and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office searched for Toms and found his body Sunday afternoon. Using The sheriff’s office’s SONAR equipped drone and FWC equipment, authorities were able to recover the body.

The Florida Department of Health reported 406 new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths in Lee County Thursday.
The cases were the most on a single day for the county since 872 were recorded on July 16.
The newly added cases pushed Lee s total to 35,759, eighth-most among Florida counties. Through Wednesday, Lee s moving seven-day new case average was 324, more than double the same average on Nov. 1 (132).
The seven-day average case rate is the average of a day and the previous six days of COVID-19 cases. This is recognized as a more accurate measure of the spread of coronavirus in a community. That s because it minimizes the impact of a single day with a very high or very low number of cases.
