State program delivers COVID-19 vaccines to local Meals on Wheels clients

SAN ANTONIO – Vinsen Faris, CEO of Meals on Wheels San Antonio, says he’s already started getting calls from seniors grateful for the chance to get their COVID-19 shots without leaving home.
“This is one of the first in the nation to actually knock on the doors, get inside the house and do the inoculation there in the home,” Faris said.
About 4,000 people are served through Meals on Wheels in San Antonio, Faris says about one-third of them have asked to be put on the list to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. About 1,700 of the clients are over the age of 75 and 11 are over the age of 100.

SAN ANTONIO – For the second time in nearly two weeks, the San Antonio Police Department is mourning the loss of an officer.
SAPD on Tuesday announced that Officer Joseph Cisneros, Badge #0094, died.
Cisneros served on the force for 20 years.
SAPD didn’t release a cause death, but said in a statement, “It is with great sadness The San Antonio Police Department shares the passing of Officer Joseph Cisneros #0094. Officer Cisneros dedicated and served the City of San Antonio for 20 years. Please respect his family’s privacy during this difficult time. This is all the information we will be providing.”
The unexpected passing late last year of respected EMS medical director Craig Manifold, DO, shook up the EMS community both in his home jurisdiction of San Antonio, Tex., and nationally as well.

No one injured in fire; arson investigators to look into cause of fire

SAN ANTONIO – A West Side home is deemed a total loss after it caught on fire twice overnight, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the home a second time around 3:30 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of Harness Lane, not far from Marbach Road and Loop 410 on the West Side.
The initial fire caused about $10,000 in damage. When firefighters returned, they saw flames shooting through the roof.
They are investigating if the fire rekindled.
