The beauty of San Antonio s chaotic mascots

We have to talk about the chaos that is San Antonio mascots.  Sure, the Spurs Coyote in all his influencer glory seems like the obvious choice for most extreme. His eyeballs pop off and he probably has Gritty on speed dial for whenever he s really in the mood for a rager, but I m not entirely sure that cuts it these days.  As a Rio Grande Valley native, I ve seen my fair share of mascots. The University of Texas at Brownsville proudly held onto the Scorpion as its mascot for years before merging with the rest of the universities in the area and becoming UTRGV. The Vaquero now reigns supreme around those parts, but not after a long battle that displaced the native sports mascot Ozzie the Ocelot.

In 2019, the city s Office of Innovation kicked off a digital-divide assessment of residents. We really wanted to get to the granular level of our residents and identify where the gaps are based on broadband connectivity, based on access to devices, and based on digital literacy, Brian Dillard, the city s chief innovation officer and a third-generation San Antonio native, told Insider.

SAWS: Sewer spill cleanup underway on West Side following Saturday s heavy rainfall

SAWS logo (File) SAN ANTONIO – A sewer spill cleanup is underway on the West Side following Saturday’s heavy rainfall, according to the San Antonio Water System. SAWS announced around 8 p.m., Sunday, that crews were called to the sewer spill in the 6600 block of Swiss Oaks Drive. The spill is a result of Saturday’s rainfall “inundating the sewer system and exceeding the requirement for public notice,” according to SAWS. SAWS officials said no adverse impacts are expected from the spill, as it has been heavily diluted with stormwater and cleanup is ongoing. During the cleanup, SAWS urges residents to take these precautions:
