The woman provided a possible suspect and the other roommate was found in the apartment complex and was arrested, ECPD said. The roommate, described as a 26-year-old, was arrested on suspicion of arson as police learned that the fire had been purposely set.
The San Miguel Fire & Rescue Department out of Spring Valley, as well as the Santee Fire Department, helped in Sunday’s call out to the apartment complex.

In hopes of preventing future challenges like the ones faced by firefighters during a September fire in a Santee riverbed, the Santee City Council earlier this month approved $130,000 for the building of a firebreak.
City Manager Marlene Best proclaimed an emergency in asking the City Council to move quickly for a firebreak along the south property boundary of the western side of Mast Park where it abuts residences on Willowgrove Avenue, west of Carlton Hills Boulevard.
The firebreak will clear about 35 feet of dead vegetation and invasive trees from rear property lines across 2,300 feet and will allow easier access for firefighters near the San Diego River. There was already 15 feet of firebreak behind homes in the area, Santee Fire Capt. John Garlow explained, and so there will now be 50 feet of a break.
There was a semi-tractor trailor and a passenger vehicle, said San Diego Fire Rescue battalion chief Dave Seneviratne. Due to the impact, the passenger vehicle went over the side of the freeway, and it ended up in a creek underneath, in the riverbed.
Fortunately for the driver of the Nissan Rogue, the San Diego River was shallow at that point and the SUV ended up on its passenger side, keeping her out of the water. incredibly, the victim managed to walk away after her SUV landed in the San Diego River, reports NBC 7 s Amber Frias.
