Glendale High School had a higher graduation rate than Glendale Unified District s overall graduation rate at 89.7 percent, according to the California Department of Education. In comparison, Glendale Unified District had a graduation rate of 89 percent for the 2017-2018 school year. According to CDE data, graduation rates continue to indicate an increase in disproportional academic performance between white, Black, Latino, and English learner students. According to the National Centre for Education Statistics, in the 2017-2018 school year, of the 50 states where data was collected, students with disabilities were at the bottom of 4-year high school graduation rates by student group. Santa Ynez school closes after student tests positive for COVID-19

The Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District canceled in-person instruction and shut down its northern Santa Barbara County campus for the remainder of January after a student contracted coronavirus.
Santa Ynez Valley Union High School students returned to distance learning on Thursday. In-person classes will not resume until Feb. 2, district Superintendent Scott Cory stated in a letter to parents.
The student who contracted coronavirus was on campus and asymptomatic for two days prior to exhibiting symptoms and eventually testing positive. Because of the number of staff exposures that occurred, it is not possible to effectively cover the classrooms of impacted teachers who are required to quarantine for 14 days under Santa Barbara County public health guidelines, Cory wrote.

SANTA YNEZ VALLEY, Calif. Santa Ynez Valley Union High School will be returning to distance learning after a student tested positive for COVID-19.
The distance learning will go into effect on Thursday.
In a letter sent to parents in the area, the Superintendent Scott Cory says that the distance learning will go until the week of February 2.
The action was required after a student who showed symptoms of COVID-19 tested positive for the virus.
Cory says the student was on campus without symptoms for two days.
Students and staff members that were exposed were notified about possible contact.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage in Santa Barbara County, Public Health officials reported an additional 535 cases on Wednesday, along with seven new deaths and a record-breaking 199 hospitalizations.
All of those who died were people over the age of 70 who had underlying health conditions, and four were associated with an outbreak at congregate facilities, according to Public Health.
Three of the fatalities resided in Santa Maria, two lived in the Santa Ynez Valley, one was from Goleta, and one lived in the unincorporated areas of the North County.
Thirty-three COVID-19 deaths have been reported over the last seven days, boosting the county’s cumulative death toll to 214.

In late October, a student athlete at Santa Barbara High had a positive test for COVID-19, and members of the team and staff members who had contact with the individual went into a 14-day quarantine.
In early November, students at St. Joseph and Righetti high schools tested positive following a large Halloween party in the Orcutt area.
St. Joseph shut down its campus, while the Righetti campus already was closed, and students were taking classes remotely.
Also in November, Bishop Diego closed its campus after a person at the private school tested positive.
On Monday, Cory informed families in a letter that two individuals from the school tested positive following regular staff testing the previous week.
