SANTA MONICA (CNS) - The widow and two daughters of a man who was fatally shot while camping at Malibu Creek State Park in 2018 will have to shore up their negligence claims in their lawsuit alleging the state and Los Angeles County failed to warn the public about earlier shootings in the same general area, a judge ruled.
Santa Monica Superior Court Judge Mark H. Epstein issued his ruling Friday in the negligence suit brought in July 2019 by Erica Wu, the widow of Trisan Beaudette, and their two daughters. He heard arguments March 18 on motions by the state and Los Angeles County to dismiss the negligence claims and took the case under submission.

SANTA MONICA (CNS) - A judge assigned to oversee dueling litigation involving a French opera singer and his estranged wife who alleges she had to temporarily live in a mobile home park when their $12.95 million Malibu home was destroyed in the Woolsey Fire removed himself from the case because he was a victim of the same blaze.
Santa Monica Superior Court Judge H. Jay Ford III told lawyers in the case Monday that he was voluntarily stepping down from handling the original case filed by Renee Izambard and the subsequent cross-complaint brought by 48-year-old Sebastien Izambard.

SANTA MONICA (CNS) - Both sides have agreed to mediation in a lawsuit filed on behalf of the 11-year-old daughter of a Playboy model dubbed “The Queen of Snapchat, who died in 2016 after a West Hollywood chiropractor visit left her with a torn artery in her neck.
The suit was brought on the girl s behalf in Los Angeles Superior Court in June 2017 by her father against chiropractor Eric Marc Swartz and Back to Total Health Inc., alleging that Swartz failed to disclose all information material to the late Katie May s decision to undergo a medical procedure.
