Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the city of Santa Clarita reminds its residents that the public health orders put in place by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the California Department of Public Health must be followed, including when at city parks and facilities. Residents are expected to follow active protocols regarding the wearing of facial coverings and social distancing to help combat the rising number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations seen throughout L.A. County. “We are in the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic with officials reporting that one person is dying from coronavirus complications in L.A. County every eight minutes,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Bill Miranda.

City Of Santa Clarita Offers The Gift Of Hometown Hero Banners

The City of Santa Clarita is offering community members the chance to sponsor a Hometown Hero banner, a special and personalized gift for the holidays.  Hometown Hero banners are displayed on street poles around the City three times a year, featuring a military member’s photograph, name, rank and branch in the military.  The banners are installed three times a year, with the upcoming installation prior to Memorial Day. Gold Star Banners honoring Santa Clarita Valley’s Fallen Warriors are also posted along the approach to the Fallen Warriors Memorial Bridge on Golden Valley Road. Residents can dedicate one of these banners to someone they know who is in the military or sponsor a banner for a military family for the holiday season.

If you are looking for a special gift for the hard-to-shop person on your holiday list, consider sponsoring a Hometown Hero banner in their name. Hometown Hero Banners are displayed on street poles and feature the military member’s photograph, name, rank and branch of the military they serve. Each banner will proudly hang throughout City streets three times a year. “Sponsoring a Hometown Hero Banner is a wonderful way to spread the holiday spirit,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Bill Miranda. “For our military families who cannot afford a banner, this sponsorship will fill them with pride and also create a connection to their service member. Being able to see their loved one patriotically featured on a banner, will make them feel close – even if they are a world away.”
