Kagan, Breyer, and Sotomayor Dissent as Supreme Court Forces California County to Allow Indoor Church Services Aaron Keller © Provided by Law & Crime In a lawsuit by a group of churches who wish to partially reopen for worship amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Supreme Court late Friday criticized the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals while issuing an injunction against restrictions on gatherings enacted by California state and county governments.  Though the churches had asked for emergency relief in time for last weekend’s services, the Supreme Court ultimately granted their requests. The Friday decision involves litigation launched by Gateway City Church, The Home Church, The Spectrum Church, Orchard Community Church, and Trinity Bible Church. Santa Clara County to expand COVID-19 vaccine eligibility Feb. 28 By KTVU Digital Dr. Sara Cody, Santa Clara County director of public health. SAN JOSE, Calif. - Santa Clara County health officials announced effective Feb. 28, eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine expands across the county to education and child care, food and agriculture and emergency service workers.   Speaking at a Wednesday news conference, Santa Clara County Health Officer and Director of Public Health Dr. Sara Cody said the county is trending in the right direction when it comes to novel coronavirus cases. She also said the county is making good progress with the phase 1A group currently eligible for the vaccine, which includes health care personnel and long-term care facility residents as well as those who are 65 and up.
