The American Rescue Plan was approved by the Senate on Saturday. Around $4 million of Essex County’s stimulus would go to its 18 towns and $5 million of Franklin County’s stimulus would go to its 19 towns. A breakdown of how much each town would receive is included with this article. If approved by the Democratic-majority House the American Rescue Plan would be the first stand-alone COVID relief stimulus bill Congress will have passed since the HEROES Act in May 2020. The omnibus spending bill for the 2021 fiscal year, passed in December 2020, also included $900 trillion for COVID relief.

KALAMAZOO, MI A homegrown guitar legacy dating back to the turn of the 20th century will be entering a new chapter in the coming years.
This week, Hard Rock Hotels announced plans for a new hotel at the 225 Parsons St., Kalamazoo, location the longtime home of Gibson and, later, Heritage Guitars.
Plans for the newest addition to Hard Rock’s REVERB brand, call for business casual concept hotel designed to be an “energetic cultural hub for connection, creation and inspiration among music fans, locals, and travelers alike,” according to a news release from the company.

Andrew Cuomo’s emergency powers for the COVID-19 pandemic. On Friday, they may get their chance. On Tuesday, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie created a bill to strip Cuomo of his emergency powers. The two chambers may vote on it as early as Friday.
