شاعر علی شاعرؔ نے کہا تھا کہ ”چرچا ہر ایک آن ہے‘ اُردو زبان کا …… گرویدہ کل جہان ہے‘ اُردو زبان کا۔“اُردو حروف تہجی کی تعداد خاص پس منظر رکھتی ہے اور اگر اِس باریک فرق کو سمجھ لیا جائے تو مشکل نہیں رہے۔ پہلا نکتہ یہ ہے کہ نصاب تعلیم کے مطابق ”اُردو زبان (لازمی مضمون)“ کے حروف تہجی کی تعداد 36 ہے اور یہ وہ بنیادی حروف ہیں‘ جنہیں چون (54) حروف سے اخذ کیا گیا ہے۔ مطلب یہ ہے کہ اُردو کے حروف تہجی کی تعداد مختلف ہو سکتی ہے لیکن اُن کا استعمال محدود نہیں ہوگا۔ مزید تحقیق اور حوالوں کے لئے عرض ہے کہ بابائے اردو مولوی عبدالحق (پیدائش 1872ء وفات 1961ء) نے
