Sandra Lewis ‘Sandy’ Roney
RICHMOND Sandra Lewis “Sandy” Roney, 67, peacefully departed Thursday, April 1, 2021, after a brief period of declining health.
Born in Hopewell, Sandra, affectionately known as Sandy, was a registered nurse whose professional career spanned for more than 30 years. She successfully served the health care communities of the Medical College of Virginia, VCU Sports Medicine and St. Mary’s Hospital.
Married in May 1971, she and her husband Earl enjoyed many years of fishing, residential boating, traveling and learning ball room dancing. She and Earl were residents of Yorktown for years while living on their boat at York River Yacht Haven. They were a month and a half away from sharing their 50th wedding anniversary and were just beginning to enjoy a life of retirement.

Leaders of the political action committee of the American College of Cardiology (HeartPAC) met last night to discuss whether a change is needed in how it donates money to politicians, amidst a nationwide reckoning following the violent storming of the US Capitol on January 6.
Moving forward, the group “is temporarily pausing all individual and leadership contributions. We will take this time to reassess and strengthen the scorecard used to evaluate potential HeartPAC recipients,” according to a statement released Friday by Sandra Lewis, MD, and Andrew Miller, MD, HeartPAC’s chair and vice chair, respectively.
