CORAL GABLES, FL âThe City of Coral Gables is turning on the lights.
Illuminate Coral Gables (ICG), a new public art initiative focusing on the intentional use of light and technology to transform public art by day into magical and mysterious work at night, will be on view Feb. 12 â Mar. 14, 2021. Curated by Lance Fung with Catherine Cathers, Jennifer Easton and Rosie Gordon-Wallace, ICG, has been created for specific outdoor locations throughout Coral Gables. ICGâs eight projects include video projections, sculpture and art installations by a stellar group of local, national and international artists including Kiki Smith and Cai Guo-Qiang. Seven of the artworks are new site-specific commissions. ICG will be on view Wednesdays through Sundays from 6-10 pm. ICG is a project of the Coral Gables Community Foundation.

Opening Feb. 12, this incandescent-and-interactive project is transforming downtown Coral Gables into a free outdoor museum – with newly commissioned and existing works by local, national and international artists curated to engage with some of the city’s most preeminent landmarks.

The June 2021 residency is dedicated to BIPOC artists who are mothers, with generous support provided by the Sustainable Arts Foundation and Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz, juried by Renee Cox, Sandra Ramos and Marie Vickles. For one month we are inviting three mothers to take time solely for themselves and their practice; no kids, no partners, just them sharing space
