Giants place Jake McGee, Logan Webb on IL after getting COVID-19 vaccine By Erin Walsh  |  Last updated 4/18/21 The San Francisco Giants placed closer Jake McGee and right-hander Logan Webb on the injured list on Sunday after both pitchers received the COVID-19 vaccine, according to The Associated Press.  Both players are still feeling the effects of the vaccine and the Giants are hopeful they ll only miss one or two games.  McGee blew a save for the first time this season on Saturday when he gave up two runs in the ninth inning against the Miami Marlins. The 34-year-old has recorded six saves, posting a 2.16 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 8.1 innings.

MLB notebook: Another Twins game postponed due to COVID-19 problems Minnesota will not play Monday, the third straight game postponed, after at least four positive coronavirus tests in the past week. The game between Minnesota and the Oakland Athletics scheduled for Monday night at the Coliseum has been postponed because of the Twins’ continued COVID-19 problems. Major League Baseball made the announcement Sunday and said the delay will allow for continued virus testing and contact tracing. MLB said the Twins and A’s are tentatively scheduled for a straight doubleheader Tuesday as a makeup. Games between the Twins and the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim were postponed Saturday and Sunday.

NL West Notes: Casali, Vogt, D'Backs, Tatis

MLB Trade Rumors Curt Casali’s offseason negotiations with the Giants were interrupted by a surgery, as Casali underwent a hamate bone procedure on his left hand in December.  The catcher told MLB.com’s Maria Guardado and other reporters that he suffered the injury while playing for the Reds in the postseason and initially planned to just rehab the issue before opting for surgery.  There was already a verbal agreement in place between Casali and the Giants prior to his surgery, and once the Giants were satisfied about Casali’s health, the two sides officially finalized a one-year, $1.5MM deal in early January.
