Sellers and potential fits for the A s By ConnorAshford30 on Jul 2, 2021, 1:53pm PDT +
With July and the trade deadline upon us, the sellers are coming into focus, with at least 8 teams looking primed to sell at a moment’s notice. The Rockies, Pirates, Orioles, Royals, Tigers, Diamondbacks, Twins, and Rangers are all at or near the bottom of their divisions with little hope of making a comeback to playoff contention this year. That means some good baseball players are about to be made available. From studs like Trevor Story and Adam Frazier to everyday starters like Jonathan Schoop and David Peralta to role pieces like Robbie Grossman and Stephen Vogt, there are going to be options to upgrade at just about any position you’d want. Let’s get started.

Two teams that saved their best for last in the series opener will try to get their bats going earlier Saturday night when the Boston Red Sox and the host Oakland Athletics continue their three-game set.
Red Sox center fielder Enrique Hernandez was the hero on offense and defense in the 10th inning Friday as Boston won 3-2, its eighth consecutive victory.
Playing for the first time since the announcement that they d been voted All-Star starters by the fans, Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers and shortstop Xander Bogaerts also contributed to the win as Boston opened a six-game trip.

Last night we saw how good the Oakland A’s look when everything goes right. Thursday brought a reminder of how bad any team can look when everything falls apart at once.
No part of the A’s roster found any success this afternoon, as they dropped a 8-3 decision to the Texas Rangers to wrap up a series loss at the Coliseum against the last-place club in their division.
Oakland has gotten superb starting pitching lately, from all five members of their rotation including
Sean Manaea. Especially Manaea, in fact, as he posted a 1.13 ERA in five June starts. But today the calendar flipped to July and that hot streak hit a bump, as the lefty never quite settled in against the Rangers.
