UPDATE: Vacant Battle Creek home, site of double murder and arsons, set for demolition By Will Kriss Apr 20, 2021 5:00 PM BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) A Battle Creek home, which has been the site of a double murder and multiple arsons, is set for demolition, according to a report from WWMT Tuesday. Previously, the house located at 203 Post Avenue was the setting of a double homicide that took place last fall. 34-year-old Joseph Soule and 31-year-old Jaclyn Lepird were identified as the victims. Their landlord, 53-year-old Chad Reed, later confessed to the murders and will go to trial. Since that incident, the home has been the site of multiple arsons, with two of the most recent taking place early Tuesday morning. Some neighbors had said they wanted the house to be torn down because of the fires and ties to the murder case.

Early Tuesday, WWMT reports that crews responded to the home at 203 Post Avenue, which is also connected to a local double murder case. This was the third fire reported at the home since October of 2020. That month, Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies located the bodies of Jaclyn Lepird and Joseph Soule, who were believed to be murdered by their landlord Chad Reed who is awaiting trial.
