CHENNAI: Weeks ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly polls, V K Sasikala, expelled AIADMK member and close aide of ex-CM J Jayalalithaa, on Wednesday announced that “she will stay away from politics” but would pray for the “golden rule” of the late party supremo.
“I will stay away from politics and keep praying my sister Puratchi Thalaivi (Jayalalithaa), whom I consider as God, and the Lord Almighty for the establishment of the golden rule of Amma,” she said in a statement.

Sasikala Quits Politics
Before the assembly elections in Tamilnadu, there has been a major political upsurge. Former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s confidant VK Sasikala has declared that she is distancing herself from politics. Sasikala has said that “I am leaving politics to ensure the formation of ADMK government in Tamil Nadu.” I will pray to God and my sister (Jayalalithaa) for the victory of ADMK. Assembly elections are going to be held in Tamil Nadu on April 6 in one process.
Issuing a remark, Sasikala said on Wednesday that ‘I never set a goal for power or any place’. She claims that she is leaving public life. She has said that the AIADMK should be unified and the DMK should be defeated in the forthcoming assembly elections. Sasikala asked all the true supporters of Jayalalithaa to save the “common enemy” DMK from coming to power in the assembly elections and to ensure Amma’s golden rule in Tamil Nadu.

NEW DELHI: In a sudden and unexpected decision on Wednesday, former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s close aide VK Sasikala announced that she was withdrawing from politics.
The development took all by surprise because after she was released from jail in January, Sasikala had made it explicit that she would play an active role in state politics.
In her two-page letter, Sasikala, fondly called “Chinnamma” by her supporters, asked all the true supporters of Jayalalithaa to prevent common enemy DMK from coming to power in the forthcoming assembly elections and ensure Amma s golden rule in Tamil Nadu . Jayalalithaa was “Amma” for her supporters.
Ever since she returned to Chennai last month, speculation has mounted over Sasikala's next move. In a sense, her quitting politics came as an anti-climax.
