A FOOD delivery business set up during Covid-19 is determined to transform shopping habits and bring local produce to your door –with zero plastic. Scarecrow’s Pantry was created last summer when former builder Mitch Mellor had become tired of the “gross amount of waste” he saw in the trade. Responding to the increased need for food deliveries during the pandemic, he decided to tackle the amount of plastic waste generated by packaging and to support unique Sussex suppliers by setting up a zero waste delivery service. The business, based in Woodingdean, was launched in a disused bottling unit at an old dairy farm and now delivers a range of produce all over Sussex, from organic fruit and veg boxes to dairy products, fresh bread and craft beer, all in recycled wooden crates.

TRUSSVILLE A Trussville couple is opening a new sign shop and their vision is one of innovation for the city.
Amie and Andrew McCullough are the owners of Cahaba Design Co. They will open a new location in downtown Trussville in May.
Andrew grew up in Trussville and graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School. The two met while in college in Texas and decided to eventually make Trussville their home. Amie went to school for graphic design and has been in the business since.
Aime McCullough has been working from home but recently saw a need in the city. When a new spot opened, she took the opportunity. Not only are they opening a brick-and-mortar, but they are also upgrading their equipment.

TRUSSVILLE The Trussville City Council met for a short regular meeting on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Councilor Perry Cook was not in attendance for the meeting.
The council approved changes to the city’s public records request policy. The changes will add charges to some document requests in order to offset the costs of the time and preparation of such requests.
“This actually brings us more in line really with the city of Hoover,” Councilor Jaime Anderson said.
The changes add a charge of $50 for digitally standard zoning certification letters, $100 for detailed certification zoning letters, including open building and/or zoning code violations, $200 for complex certification zoning letters, including open building and/or zoning code violations, approved site plans, variances, ordinances, resolutions, special permits, conditional and/or special use permits, zoning cases, certificate of occupancy road project plans. Spencer Pledge is accused of possessing a device capable of recording or photographing children while travelling in a motor vehicle. He is also accused of possessing a police counter terrorism uniform, handcuffs, and a stab vest in Worthing. The 44-year-old appeared before Lewes Crown Court for a plea hearing this month. He denied three charges relating to the breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed in 2013. The claims were that he was in breach of the order on January 13 this year with the alleged device, and that he allegedly possessed the items of uniform in May 2019.
