The Yomiuri Giants on Thursday announced a deal with pitcher Shun Yamaguchi, who will rejoin the Central League club after terminating his contract with a San Francisco Giants minor-league affiliate.
Yamaguchi posted a 15-4 record and led the CL in strikeouts, wins and winning percentage in 2019, his previous season in Japan, when he helped the Giants win their first CL pennant in five years.

Following the state guidance on fully reopening the state on June 15th, Sutter Health Park will be doing the same that same week. Officials with the Sacramento River Cats say on June 17th, they will expand to full capacity in the stadium and drop the social distancing protocols. The press release from the organization says that game on June 17th against the Salt Lake Bees will be the first game in over a year with large capacity seating options. The 14,000 capacity stadium only saw about 3,000 people for the first home game last week. The press release also says that those fully vaccinated do not have to wear a face covering while in the stadium, but it does not say how that will be enforced. The River Cats are the minor league feeder team for the San Francisco Giants, who have also announced full capacity in their stadium by June 25th.
