Alexa Palubicki, 26, was the subject of a months-long investigation.
She has been with the department for three years and was placed on administrative leave when the details on her misconduct were received, stated the department in a news release.
CBS13, Palubicki initially pulled over a Black man for illegal parking but later added in suspicion of a DUI for probable cause after consulting with her fiancé who is also a police officer. The issue of concern was the inconsistency between the initial SSD jail booking arrest report and the SPD crime report, said the report.
Information was brought forward by fellow officers last July and the Sacramento County District Attorney s Office said the charges are related to an incident that occurred on July 11, 2020.
Joseph DeAngelo has been locked inside a California prison for nearly a year.
During his trial last year, the convicted killer and rapist wore a plastic face shield and orange jail-issued clothing while his victims recounted the horrors he d perpetrated nearly 50 years ago.
He will die in prison.
Now, the District Attorney s Office is asking the public to share their stories of this significant time in Tulare County history. The office plans to collect these accounts for publication later this summer near the first anniversary of the Visalia Ransacker’s sentencing. We are inspired by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office to collect these memories not just from victims, but from community members who experienced the climate of fear the Ransacker created, District Attorney Tim Ward said. Our office and local media have reported on the crimes, but it’s our community that holds the complete history.”
Census + recall
What a day Monday was.
First, the U.S. Census Bureau announced that California will lose a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time in the state’s 171-year history.
Then, Secretary of State Shirley Weber announced that supporters of the effort to oust Gov. Gavin Newsom from office had gathered enough signatures to force the second gubernatorial recall election in state history and the fourth in U.S. history.
Associated Press reporter Adam Beam: “We are in what’s called a ‘news vortex’ in California right now.”
Here’s a closer look at what the Monday announcements mean.
