This dominoes game does not have partners and can be played with two, three, four, five or more players. Organizers will show you some tricks and techniques. You may join our class any time during the year.

The result? A new NCAA Division II record.
The senior from Gortin, Ireland, won the steeplechase at the Oregon Twilight in 9:40.68 by more than 35 seconds over a field of Division I athletes. Her winning time bettered the previous record of 9:47.77 set by Alicja Konieczek in 2018.
Earlier this season, Flanagan became the third-best performer on the all-time chart with her 9:52.70 at the Drake Relays. That is now the seventh-fastest time in the event.
This is the second National Athlete of the Week honor for Flanagan during the outdoor season.

School board prepares to appoint new superintendent
Grosse Pointe Public School System Superintendent Gary Niehaus announced his retirement during a Sept. 14 board meeting held in a virtual format.

GROSSE POINTES The Grosse Pointe Public School System Board of Education is on its way to naming a new superintendent.
The school board plans to appoint the district’s new top administrator May 12 after conducting final interviews May 11-12.
On April 28, the school board had narrowed the field of candidates down to two: Jon Dean, deputy superintendent for GPPSS, and Stephen Bigelow, Bay City Public Schools superintendent. School officials provided background information on both candidates on the district’s website at www.gpschools.org.
EUP students receive Principals Award
The winners of the 2021 Eastern Upper Peninsula Principals’ Awards have been announced.
In order to be eligible for this award, students need to have a 3.3 grade point average or higher, a 24 on the ACT or a 1180 on the SAT and be a graduate of an Eastern Upper Peninsula high school. These students are recognized at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
In previous years, students needed to achieve an SAT score of 1200 in addition to the other requirements in order to receive this award.
Local students include those from Brimley, Cedarville, Ojibwe Charter School, Rudyard, Pickford, St. Ignace, Engadine, Newberry, Whitefish, Mackinac Island and the Sault.

The duo posted a 1,399 total Sunday at the South Point Bowling Center to catapult to the top of the Regular Doubles standings. Novak led the way with games of 259, 246 and 223 for a 728 series, while Vermilyea contributed 203, 222 and 246 for a 671 set.
