Police: Crime appears unrelated to similar incident in Saginaw County

Midland Police are currently investigating a home invasion that took place on Sunday.
At about 10:20 p.m. on Dec. 13, three unknown suspects pushed their way into a residence in the 6200 Block of Sturgeon Avenue. MPD Lt. Mike Sokol said the three men subdued and tied up the owners of the residence, a couple in their 50 s, before they ransacked the house.
The suspects then left with an unknown amount of money.
At this time, the incident is still under investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Midland Police Detective Bureau at 989-631-4244.

MIDLAND, MI Police in Midland are investigating a burglary similar to one that recently occurred in Saginaw Township in which residents were tied up by masked intruders.
Midland Police Detective Lt. Joshua McMillan said officers were dispatched to a residence on Sturgeon Road around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13. The couple who lives there told officers that on opening their door after hearing a noise, three masked men forced their way inside.

YPSILANTI, MI - Two college students from Saginaw Township Community Schools are recipients of Eastern Michigan University’s Presidential Scholarship, granting them full tuition and room and board for four years.
Jeffrey Hoang and Felix Meisel, both graduates of Saginaw Township’s Heritage High School, are two of 21 recipients of the 2020-2021 scholarship. To qualify, Hoang and Meisel needed to maintain a 3.5 GPA as well as achieve a ACT or SAT score of at least 25 or 1130, respectively. The were selected based on an essay submission and multiple rounds of interviews, according to the university’s website.
LANSING Republicans who backed President Donald Trump’s failed effort for another term insisted they just wanted “answers” even though they signed a brief seeking to overturn Michigan’s election.
Fifteen Michigan legislators and four of six of the state’s congressional Republicans filed legal briefs supporting a Texas lawsuit that sought to delay Monday’s Electoral College vote and block electors from Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Georgia from participating.
The U.S. Supreme Court denied the request Friday, after Bridge Michigan reached out to the lawmakers to understand their rationale for supporting a lawsuit that critics said supported “authoritarian, anti-democracy efforts” to satisfy Trump’s “tiny fragile ego.”
