President Kenyatta Rubbishes Ruto’s Wheelbarrow Politics
President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined the growing list of political leaders who have taken a swipe at Deputy President Willliam Ruto over his “wheelbarrow” movement.
As part of his campaign strategy ahead of the 2022 Presidential elections, the DP has been donating items such as wheelbarrows, handcarts, motorbikes to needy youth.
This has been sharply criticised by Ruto’s political opponents, with President Uhuru remaining silent on the issue until Sunday, January 31 when he finally took the gloves off.
Speaking at the Sagana State Lodge when he hosted Mt. Kenya region youth leaders, a seething Uhuru Kenyatta rubbished the wheelbarrow politics saying young Kenyans need jobs and funding.

Nairobi MCAs Vow To Pass BBI Bill With Or Without Uhuru’s Car Grants
Nairobi County Assembly leadership has indicated that it will rally its members to pass the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill.
Led by Deputy Majority Whip Waithera Chege, the ward reps maintained that their decision has not been influenced by President Uhuru’s pledge to offer them car grants.
“We have resolved to pass BBI with or without car grants for we believe it has many benefits for devolution. Likewise, I am asking my counterparts countrywide not to vote for the bill because of the car grant but for the benefits it has for the future generation,” said Chege.

ODM leader Raila Odinga yesterday rallied party MCAs to pass the referendum Bill.
The MCAs declared their support for the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020 but want the Sh2 million car grant promised by President Uhuru Kenyatta fast tracked.
Raila met the MCAs at Cooperative University in Karen, Nairobi, yesterday alongside constitutional experts who explained benefits of the proposed law changes in strengthening devolution, including the ward development fund and increased county allocations from 15 per cent to 35 per cent.

OPINION
President Uhuru Kenyatta at Sagana State Lodge, Nyeri County, to discuss the region s development as well as other pertinent national agenda including the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
President Uhuru Kenyatta met Central Kenya leadership at the weekend in a charm offensive to cement his position, win back lost confidence and convince his compatriots that his pet project - the BBI - is a worthwhile endeavour, as the clock ticks away on his presidency.
Yet, whatever premium was to be extracted from the Sagana State Lodge meetings with local leaders is muted by growing disaffection in the region precipitated majorly by the predatory nature of our politics and the chaotic slow-motion implosion of the president’s Jubilee Party and his imminent departure.
