One person has been taken to hospital with moderate head injuries after coming off a bike at an event in Southland. The incident happened at the Glenham Trainwreck Trails event, near Wyndham about 12.40pm on Saturday. Trails committee member Hooter Poyntz-Roberts said he would not comment on the incident until he knew more details of what happened. It was the only incident that happened on the day, he said, A St John Ambulance spokesman said one person was taken to Southland Hospital with moderate head injuries.

Christchurch couple Krysta and Marcus Lord were in the tiny settlement of Te Anau, Southland, where her parents live, for Christmas and to enjoy a break before their first child was due on March 10.
But Kora had other plans.

A female with minor injuries has been taken to Southland Hospital in Invercargill after the car she was in went off the road, flipped and ended up in a ditch near Winton, on Tuesday.
