Representatives from Vince’s and from the Women’s Centre of York Region (WCYR) assembled for a brief, socially-distanced presentation at the Sharon store last Friday. Here, proceeds from the 2020 Community Product Initiative were released after a successful year-long campaign, and the independent grocer was pleased to announce that $18,393.68 was raised to help WCYR continue their life-changing work.
“We are thrilled with the response from our customers, staff and vendors in making this happen,” said Giancarlo Trimarchi, partner at Vince’s. “The Community Product Initiative has so far raised nearly $60K over the past three years, and we expect continued, strong support in 2021.”

In fact, it wasn’t. It was almost routine.
Yet, when I got ready over the weekend, it was anything but.
Given the earliness of the morning hour, it would have been a simple matter of getting out of bed, hopping in the shower, getting dressed and going out the door bound for Newmarket.
This time around was a little bit different.
A mask? Check. Check. Check. Three, just to be sure. Some latex gloves? Sure, a couple of pairs just to be sure. A Health Card? Never leave home without it.

Some questions are now being raised after Toronto hospital staff who don’t directly deal with patients have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
A leaked email from the University Health Network on Sunday, seen by the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail, revealed it had secured a limited number of vaccines from Newmarket’s Southlake Regional Health Centre and was offering them to all staff, including researchers.
The Pfizer COVID-19 shot must be used within six hours of being thawed and prepared, sometimes leaving hospitals to scramble to find recipients when there are extra doses, which is reportedly what happened in Newmarket.
