A fifth of people in Reading fully vaccinated against Covid-19

Vaccination A FIFTH of people aged 45 and over in Reading have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal. NHS data shows 23,634 people had received both jabs by April 25 – 18% of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics. Of those to have received both jabs, 19,209 were aged 45 and over – 34% of the age group. It means 4,425 people aged between 16 and 44 have received both doses. The figures also show 67,538 people in Reading have received at least one jab – 53% of those aged 16 and over. It comes as the government announced an extra 60 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus jab have been secured for a booster vaccination programme in the autumn.

Joseph Waters, aged 25, of Laytom Rise in Tilehurst, has been sent down for 24 years for attempted murder after the shocking attack that happened near Reading s town centre. Reading Crown Court heard how Waters and his three accomplices were involved in the violent firearms offence in Southampton Street on October 16, 2019. A five-week trial heard how shortly after midnight one of the accomplices Sahit Shehu, 31, of Bunces Lane in Burghfield, was involved in a crash in Southampton Street. Witnesses reported seeing him shift a handgun from his damaged vehicle into a BMW X5 which arrived to pick him up.

Surveillance footage showed Chin-Clarke and another person meeting Jefferson at a Southhamptom Street parking lot. Jefferson allegedly punched Chin-Clarke in the face during what appeared to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction, the statement said.
