The Jeddah Islamic Port has achieved remarkable growth in the number of transshipment containers in 2020, thus registering an increase of 12 per cent compared to the same period in 2019, amid an integrated system of competitive services.

New tariffs for port service in Saudi Arabia took effect on Jan. 1, said a statement issued by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani).
It said that the current and new fees for handling some types of cargo are deemed low compared to the regional and competitive markets.
The authority reviewed and amended some port fees in light of the emergence of new services in the shipping sector, the statement added.
The new tariffs will contribute to supporting obligations of Mawani and operators in Saudi ports with competitive global indicators, including the availability of berths, increasing total crane moves per hour and total handling on berths per hour, as well as reducing unloading time.
Saudi Arabia: Two-third hike in container handling fee from Friday
The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) will introduce new fee structures for cargo handling service from Friday, Jan. 1. The fee for handling containers of 20 or less cubic feet in length will be raised to SR450 from SR270, an increase of 66.67 percent.
The handling fee for containers with a length ranging between 20-40 cubic feet will be SR700 instead of the existing rate of SR415, an increase of 68.67 percent, while containers exceeding 40 feet in length will increase their fees to SR740 from SR415.
The MAWANI will impose SR5 on each head of sheep against the existing rate of SR2 while the fee will be SR10 for each head of other livestock in place of SR5.
