Aoun: Lebanon won t be a means to harm Saudi Arabia, Gulf states

Lebanon will not be a transit point for what could harm the brotherly Arab countries in general, and Saudi Arabia and Gulf states in particular, given the strong ties which bind these nations, President Michel Aoun said yesterday.
This came during a meeting with Minister of Industry, Imad Hoballah, and a delegation from the Board of Directors of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists.
On Friday, Saudi Arabia banned the entry of Lebanese vegetables and fruits after thwarting an attempt to smuggle narcotics in pomegranates.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Agree to Improve Economic Relations
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan, His Excellency, Nawaf Saeed A. Al Malkiy called on the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Omar Ayub Khan, at his office.
The Saudi Ambassador congratulated Minister Khan on his assumption of the new portfolio of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The two sides discussed the level of ongoing bilateral economic cooperation in detail, and agreed to enhance the existing level of cooperation to mutually benefit the two countries.
The Saudi Ambassador said that the Saudi side is ready to play a much stronger role in the economic development of Pakistan.

On April 23, 2021, customs authorities at the Saudi port of Jeddah announced that they had thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs – mainly Captagon (fenethylline hydrochloride) pills, an amphetamine drug popular in the Middle East –
in a shipment of pomegranates arriving from Lebanon. Subsequently, the Saudi Interior Ministry announced that beginning April 25, the country would accept no Lebanese imports of agricultural produce. The ministry added that it had previously warned Lebanese authorities about the increase in drug smuggling attempts from its territory, and that the ban would remain in force until the Lebanese authorities provide satisfactory and documented guarantees that they have taken the necessary steps to stop the systematic smuggling against the kingdom.

Fawad wants to boost media ties with Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Husain on Monday said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoyed deep fraternal relations based on common faith, culture, traditions and values, and he would like the media dimension added to these ties.
The minister observed this during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki, who called on him here and conveyed the invitation on behalf of the Saudi Minister for Media Dr Majed bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi, who has invited Fawad to visit Saudi Arabia. In his letter, the Saudi minister stated on the occasion of holy month of Ramazan, he desired to invite Fawad to visit Saudi Arabia and perform Umrah and visit the Mosque of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in Medina. Further, he said the visit would also give both sides the opportunity to discuss ways and means for strengthening media cooperation.
