They ll be outside the Limerick Street store at 11am as well as at Henry Street in Dublin, and in Cork, Waterford, Tralee and Galway. A year ago today around 100 Limerick workers were made redundant sparking a 365 day dispute. Almost 1,000 workers in eleven stores balloted for industrial action in an attempt to win their agreed redundancy package of four weeks pay per year of service.

Call for action over vacant Limerick store before €9.1 revitalisation works begin Reporter: );   ); DUNNES Stores has been asked to take action on its vacant store in O’Connell Street before work on the €9.1m revamp of the thoroughfare begins. The unit has lain largely idle since 2008 when the company moved from three city centre stores to just one. While the University of Limerick has bought the former outlet at Sarsfield Street and plans to develop it, the old O’Connell Street branch remains empty, despite planning approval for a restaurant on site some years ago. With the €9.1m revitalisation of O’Connell Street set to commence in the near future, Labour councillor Joe Leddin pushed the issue at this month’s metropolitan meeting asking whether Dunnes had been charged for the empty retail units.

Christopher Kelly, aged 31, of Water Street, Bruree pleaded guilty to the offence at Sarsfield Street, Kilmallock on September 12, 2019. Garda Pat Ahern said when he approached Mr Kelly, who was driving a white Volkswagen Golf, the defendant told him he did not have a permit. Mr Kelly said: “Sorry I didn’t pay the fine. It won’t happen again.” Judge Marian O’Leary asked him why he parked in the disabled bay? “I just reversed in. I wasn’t there long,” said Mr Kelly.
