Such policy efforts will help enhance and stabilize the country s manufacturing and supply chain, contributing to both the Chinese and world economies in the post COVID-19 era, experts and industrial insiders said. Earlier this month, six ministries including commerce, industry and information technology, and science and technology jointly issued a guideline on scaling up efforts in building the country s manufacturing sector. China will strive to cultivate 10,000 small giant companies with high growth potential, advanced technologies and a strong market competitive edge before 2025, according to the guideline.

Resume talks to ease strain

BEIJING: China and the United States should resume dialogue as lack of regular contact could make it tougher to handle the ongoing tensions between the two economies, said Chinese experts and former US officials, according to a report carried by South China Morning Post. The US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue mechanism was suspended by the Trump administration, and the Biden administration has showed no intention to resume this highest-level bilateral forum, the report said. “Personally, I think the dialogue is still very positive for the two countries to understand each other,” said Zhang Yansheng, chief researcher at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, to SCMP.

On Monday, China s National Bureau of Statistics released its revised first-half statistics of per capita disposable income. Revised NBS data showed Shanghai s first-half per capita disposable income topped the national list, reaching 40,357 yuan ($6,219), Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday. As it transpired, Shanghai was the only region that saw its per capita disposable income exceed 40,000 yuan.
