PulteGroup announced Feb. 15 it will build its third Northeast Florida Del Webb community on 226 acres in Wildlight. Wildlight is a master-planned 2,900-acre community in Nassau County along Florida 200 between Interstate 95 and U.S. 17. Raydient Places + Properties is the developer.  Del Webb is designed for active adults age 55 and older, the news release said. Model homes are expected to open in early 2022.  The development will be along Curiosity Avenue adjacent to Wildlight Elementary School.  “We just identified Nassau County as a perfect place for active adults to retire to whether they’re Florida locals or coming in from out of state,” said Tony Nason, vice president of operations for PulteGroup’s North Florida division.

Texas-based Buc-ee’s will open its 104-pump gas station and convenience store at World Commerce Center in St. Johns County on Feb. 22. Buc-ee’s spokesperson Rachel Austin said in an email Feb. 5 that more information about the opening will be available next week. The 53,254-square-foot store, pump station and 392 parking spaces are at 200 World Commerce Parkway at the Interstate 95 and International Golf Parkway interchange near World Golf Village.  By comparison, the Publix Super Market in Nocatee is about 55,000 square feet. Permits show the 13.71-acre Buc-ee’s will have three fuel canopies comprising 52,948 square feet and two 120,000-gallon underground fuel tanks.

JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County School Board got an update Tuesday morning from the school district on a flurry of new school construction happening in the fast-growing county. The K-8 school, which is named “MM Academy” for now, will soon have a permanent name and a school mascot. The name recommendations include: Tolomato River Academy The mascots for the $37 million, three-story school have been narrowed down to six choices: Cougars, Coyotes, Dolphins, Manatees, Pioneers and Terrapins. The district said the students will help make the final decision about the mascot in the coming weeks.
