June 9th, 2021 ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) continues to execute its project to perform surgeries for poor patients in Gaza, which involves major and life-saving operations in the specialties of cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, and urology. The overall cost of the project is $789,142.
Dr. Akram Nassar, head of QRCS’s representation office in Gaza, said the project was part of the Medical Expertise and Training Recruitment Project, aimed at enhancing the health sector, improving the quality of health services offered for Palestinian patients, and reducing the negative impact of continued blockade and recurrent wars on Gaza.
QRCS, OCHA launch emergency health, nutritional response in Yemen [EN/AR]

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched an emergency health and nutritional response in the places of internally displaced people (IDPs) in the Taiz and Sa’ada Governorates of Yemen.
At the premises of QRCS’s mission in Taiz, an introductory workshop was held for representatives of the health sector, planning department, districts health directors, and managers of the target health centers.
The session discussed the project’s activities and mechanism, to give an overview of the interventions and procedures to be carried out by QRCS for the IDP and most vulnerable communities.
QRCS provides eye health care for refugees, community in Bangladesh [EN/AR]

June 5th, 2021 ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has initiated a new project to provide anti-blindness medical care for eye diseases in Bangladesh, both at the camps of Myanmar refugees in Cox’s Bazar and the host local community.
With a budget of $134,823 (or around QR 492,100), the 14-month project is executed in collaboration with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS).
The purpose of the project is to provide the refugee and local communities with access to high quality eye health care and increase the curability of eyesight problems. To that end, QRCS secure medical examinations and medications at seven health centers for one year, each receiving an average of 15-20 patients per day during week days.
