03-16-2021 Jewish Immigrants from Former Soviet Union at Khabarovsk Airport, Photos Courtesy of JAFI JERUSALEM, Israel – While the coronavirus pandemic has caused a major drop in Jewish immigration to Israel, Christians are stepping up to help pave the way for Jews to make Israel their home. The International Christian Embassy of Jerusalem sponsored a “rescue flight” of 226 Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet Union. The immigrants landed in Israel Monday evening. The Jewish Agency organized the flight and it was sponsored by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. Many of these immigrants attempted to make Aliyah – or move to Israel – months ago, but were delayed due to Israel’s COVID-19 restrictions. They were required to enter quarantine upon arrival.
