Carrabec schools to go completely in-person this fall, superintendent says

Students within the Carrabec school district will be returning to full-time, in-person learning next fall.
“What we’re looking at is to resume the daily schedule, Monday through Friday, with no remote learning options,” Regional School Unit 74 Superintendent Mike Tracy told the board of directors. “RSU 74 is going back to school.”
Carrabec senior to receive 2020 Principal’s Award
Courtney Peabody, daughter of Robert and Carrie Peabody of Solon and a senior at Carrabec High School, is receiving the 2021 Principal’s Award.

NORTH ANSON Courtney Peabody, daughter of Robert and Carrie Peabody of Solon and a senior at Carrabec High School, is receiving the 2021 Principal’s Award, according to Principal Timothy Richards.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, citizenship and leadership.
Peabody has distinguished herself in the classroom, on the court, in track and field, and as a leader in the school, according to Richards.
Carrabec schools superintendent calls for students to be learning in person all the time
Mike Tracy wrote in a letter to Gov. Janet Mills and Maine s congressional delegation that keeping students out of the classroom is negatively impacting them as more cases of drug abuse, food insecurity, mental health and domestic violence are reported.

NORTH ANSON The superintendent in Regional School Unit 74 has called on Gov. Janet Mills and Maine’s congressional delegation to reconsider social-distancing requirements in an effort to get more students back into the classroom full time.

OAKLAND Two Atwood Primary students escorted their principal, Jennifer McGee, into the gymnasium Tuesday morning for a surprise assembly to celebrate her winning the statewide honor of 2017 Principal of the Year.
McGee was greeted by all of her students, her family, the school’s staff and the district’s administrators. Many were wearing yellow in her honor, said Denice Hatch, a kindergarten teacher at the Atwood school, because McGee is “a ray of sunshine.”
Carrabec school board to survey teachers about remote learning
Regional School Unit 74 superintendent changes two half-days for students scheduled for Jan. 27 and March 10 to full days.
