Skiing notebook: Mt. Blue Nordic teams trying to make best out of pandemic season
Cougars staying sharp with hopes of squeezing in some more races this winter.

The 2020-2021 ski season could be viewed as somewhat of a disappointment for the Mt. Blue Nordic team.
The Mt. Blue girls, led by standout Emma Charles, are the defending Class A champions. Although the boys team is rebuilding, Mt. Blue has been able to add some exciting new talent.

A friend once said, “the more ads you see for something, the worse it is for you.” They were talking about junk food, but I could say the same for Central Maine Power/Avangrid, who’ve spent $16 million to sell us on the New England Clean Energy Connect, a project Mainers know precious little about.
NECEC might be a good investment for these companies, but isn’t good for Maine.

In past years, putting together this roundup of winter events meant previewing things like outdoor festivals celebrating the snow, ice bars at restaurants and resorts, and the annual U.S. National Toboggan Championships at the Camden Snow Bowl. And then the pandemic came knocking, putting our ability to gather on ice. But there are still plenty of ways to make the most of winter.
Many of those events have been postponed for a year, which means this year’s slate looks a lot different. But will that stop us hardy Mainers from celebrating winter? Heck, no!
