Korey Mitchel Smith (July 21, 1994-April 2, 2021)

Korey Mitchel Smith, 26, was born in Rock Spring, Wyoming. The son of Donald Smith, of Rock Springs, and Sheila Smith of Salt Lake City. Korey attended school in Rock Springs until 2011, then moving to Millcreek, Utah, where he graduated from Granite Peaks High School. Anything that Korey set his mind to he could pick up and excel in, like he had been doing it for years. This included football, baseball, basketball, snowboarding, dirt biking and especially his “therapy” the gym. Although he could never seem to get good at golf. He enjoyed helping his friends at the gym, and would lend a hand to anyone that would need it. He could make friends with anyone and from all walks of life. His personality drew people in and made them feel comforted and safe.

Deseret News Share this story Yukai Peng, Deseret News SALT LAKE CITY Light snow Saturday morning made for slick roads across northern Utah and southwest Wyoming, prompting officials to ask motorist to use caution while traveling. Also, the traction law is now in effect for both Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood canyons, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. Vehicles must be equipped with traction devices for driving up or down the canyon. A Utah Transit Authority bus slid off the road near 900 South and 1100 East in Salt Lake City. There were no passengers on the bus and the driver wasn’t injured, according to UTA. The bus didn’t hit anything and there was no property damage.
