Road between Super Highway and National Highway to be rebuilt

The Sindh governmentâs Public-Private Partnership Policy Board has approved the reconstruction of a link road between the M-9 (Super Highway) and the N-5 (National Highway) in Karachi.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the board held with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in chair at the CM House on Wednesday. The meeting was told that the 21.8-kilometre link road between the M-9 and the N-5 needed to be rebuilt. During the boardâs previous meeting, the project had been approved for investorsâ solicitation. The board now approved awarding the contract to the bidder and signing the concession agreement.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has given the approval for extending the tenure of NED University of Engineering and Technology (NEDUET) vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Sarosh Lodhi by four years.
The universities and boards secretary has issued a notification for the extension of Dr Lodhi s tenure, which was to end on March 21, 2021.
While serving as the VC, Dr Lodhi made it compulsory for undergraduate students enrolled in four-year degree programmes to take the Chinese language course offered by the university, in addition to making it mandatory for them to volunteer for social services initiatives for at least 40 hours during the course of their programme. As part of this initiative, most students from the varsity have taken up internships in the Motorway Police.

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, to expedite work on a survey and detailed designs of the Gujjar and Orangi storm drains’ network by December 31, 2020, and January 15, 2021, respectively.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting on the storm water drains’ cleanliness at the CM House on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Labour Saeed Ghani, law adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Chairman P&D Mohammad Waseem, Commissioner Karachi Naveed Shaikh, NED Vice Chancellor Dr Sarosh Lodhi, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, KMC Administrator Laiq Ahmed, the secretaries for finance and local government and other officials concerned.
