This Saturday Quarry Hill Nature Center was going to be hosting a beautiful candlelit hike for Valentine s Day weekend. Sadly, they had to postpone the event to next Saturday the 20th. They don t say for sure on their website if the postponement is because of the weather or not but I would assume that s the case. There will be bonfires there but there s only so much heat those give off! The event is in the evening starting at 6 PM and the low for Saturday night is -20 so. yeah I don t want to hike in that either! Two More Flu Deaths Reported In Minnesota
St Paul (KROC AM News) - At least two more Minnesotans have died after contracting influenza.
The Minnesota Dept. of Health issued its weekly influenza report Thursday and it shows activity so far during the current season remains very low.

The season s death total is now three with all victims in their 90s. The first death was reported earlier this month. The death total in the previous season was 153.
There were only four flu-related hospitalizations included in the new weekly report, increasing the season total to just 26. The total in the previous season was over 4,000.

Travel + Leisure has released their list of the 50 best places to travel in 2021 and a place that we all know and love made it on the list! Northern Minnesota was named one of the top places to visit this year.
I m not terribly surprised that out of the entire state of Minnesota, Northern Minnesota was picked. So many people flock there for the outdoor recreation available, Lake Superior, and the nature you can immerse yourself in. The outdoor experiences are what is highlighted as the reason why Northern Minnesota is on Travel + Leisure s list.
Work May Finally Begin This Year On Rochester Broadway Project

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The delayed reconstruction of a section of North Broadway in Rochester may finally be getting back on track.
The City Council Wednesday authorized staff to seek construction bids for the project, which has an estimated overall cost of over $19-million.
The council rejected bids for the project last year after they came in $5-million higher than estimated.
The council was told Wednesday the project team “modified the construction plans to provide a revised staging sequence, with an anticipated timeline that will reduce the project schedule and overall impacts to the businesses and traveling public by nearly one year.”
Winter Charm on the Farm at FarmAmerica Saturday
FarmAmerica, Minnesota s Agricultural Interpretative Center located just west of Waseca will be hosting a special winter celebration called Winter Charm on the Farm. It will be this Saturday January 23, 2021 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Tickets purchased by Friday January 22, 2021 at 11:59 pm are just $5.00. Tickets purchased on Saturday January 23, 2121 are $10.00. Note that door admission will not be accepted, you must register in advance as I suspect they need to limit toe number for social distancing.
