Law Minister Farogh Naseem and Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior and Accountability Shahzad Akbar denied on Wednesday allegations levelled against them, by former director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Bashir Memon, in an interview to a private news channel a day ago.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday accepted identical petitions challenging its last year’s order of June 19 referring the matter to the Federal Board of Revenue with a direction to initiate tax proceedings against the spouse and children of Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
A 10-member larger bench headed by Justice Umer Ata Bandial allowed the review petitions filed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa and various Bar associations against its order of June 19, 2020.
Other members of the bench were Justice Maqbool Baqir, Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed, Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Amin Uddin Khan. In a rare development, the Supreme Court with a majority of 6 to 4 has allowed the review petitions filed against its June 19, 2020 order for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to conduct an inquiry into the foreign properties of the family members of apex court judge Qazi Faez Isa.
With this verdict, Justice Isa – who is in line to become the chief justice of Pakistan – is vindicated of the allegations leveled in a June 2020 presidential reference that claimed that the apex court judge had committed misconduct by not disclosing his family members foreign assets in his wealth statement.
