New Hampshire Senate Passes Bill to Ban State Enforcement of Any New Executive Orders Restricting Firearms
CONCORD, N.H. (April 1, 2021) – Today, the New Hampshire Senate passed a bill that would ban enforcement of future presidential executive orders that restrict the right to keep and bear arms, setting the foundation to nullify such orders in practice and effect.
A coalition of nine Republicans introduced Senate Bill 154 (SB154) on Feb. 4. The legislation would prohibit any person acting under color of state law or as an agent of the state from taking any action, expending any funds, or exercising any powers of the state of New Hampshire “to enforce any executive order of the president of the United States, issued after January 20, 2021, that has the purpose or effect of restricting, limiting, encumbering, regulating, or placing conditions upon the right of the people to keep and bear arms pursuant to the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Part I, Art.
Last week, a House committee held a hearing on a trio of “Constitutional Carry” bills that would make it legal for Texans to carry a concealed firearm without a license, and foster an environment hostile to federal gun control.
Arkansas Senate Passes Bill to End State Enforcement of Federal Gun Control
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 31, 2021) – Today, the Arkansas Senate passed a bill that would take on federal gun control, past, present and future, banning the state from participating in the enforcement of a wide-range of acts dating back to 1934.
Sen. Gary Stubblefield (R) and Sen. Brandt Smith (R) introduced Senate Bill 298 (SB298) on Feb. 8. The legislation would ban any person, including any public officer or employee of the state and its political subdivisions, from enforcing any past, present or future “federal statute, executive order, or federal agency directive that conflicts with Arkansas Constitution, Article 2, § 5, or any Arkansas law” relating to the right to keep and bear arms.
Arizona Senate Committee Passes Bill to End State Enforcement of Federal Gun Control
PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 15, 2021) – Today, an Arizona Senate committee approved a bill that would ban state and local enforcement of federal gun control; past, present and future. Passage into law would represent an important first step towards bringing those measures to an end within the state.
Rep. Leo Biasiucci (R) introduced House Bill 2111 (HB2111) along with 16 cosponsors on Jan. 24. The legislation bans the state and all political subdivisions of the state from “using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the United States government that is inconsistent with any law” of the state of Arizona regarding the regulation of firearms.
Tennessee House Committee Passes Constitutional Carry Bill
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 15, 2021) – Last week, a Tennessee House committee passed a “Constitutional Carry” bill that would make it de facto legal to carry a firearm in the state without a license, fostering an environment hostile to federal gun control.
Rep. Bruce Griffey (R-Paris) introduced House Bill 18 (HB18) on Dec. 3. The proposed law would create “exceptions” in existing state law for open or concealed carry for those who are not prohibited from possessing a firearm. Under existing Tennessee state law, residents must get an “enhanced handgun permit” to carry weapons openly or concealed where permitted, while a “concealed handgun permit” only allows permitted holders to conceal carry.
