Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu s acclaimed drama
Pass Over will be the show that reopens Broadway s August Wilson Theatre, with exact dates to be announced.
The production, a transfer of the 2018 Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 staging, will once again be directed by Danya Taymor, with a creative team that includes Wilson Chin (set), Sarafina Bush (costumes), Marcus Doshi (lighting), and Justin Ellington (sound). Casting is by Daniel Swee. It will be produced by Matt Ross, Jujamcyn Theaters, Lincoln Center Theater, Concord Theatricals, Renee Montgomery, Blair Underwood, Madeleine Foster Bersin, and Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu.

After premiering at Chicagoâs Steppenwolf Theatre Company,
Pass Over opened Off-Broadway in 2018 as part of Lincoln Center Theater s LCT3 programming. A few months prior, a film version of the Chicago staging, directed by Spike Lee, debuted at Sundance Film Festival. It is now available to stream as an Amazon Prime original.
Nwandu has previously modified the play between its iterations, a move she says was born out of wanting to prick the conscience of liberal Americans who remain tentative in their condemnation of violence against Black people. This new production, which will arrive on Broadway following a hiatus marked by a global pandemic, demands for racial justice, and a reckoning against abuse of power, will follow suit.

The Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 production of Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu s acclaimed, award-winning play PASS OVER, directed by Obie Award winner Danya Taymor ( Daddy , Heroes of the Fourth Turning) will reopen Broadway s August Wilson Theatre (245 W 52nd Street, New York, NY) for a limited engagement, with exact dates to be announced shortly. This will mark the Broadway debut of both Nwandu and Taymor. PASS OVER will be produced on Broadway by Matt Ross, Jujamcyn Theaters, Lincoln Center Theater, Concord Theatricals, Renee Montgomery, Blair Underwood, Madeleine Foster Bersin and Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu.
