A perfect storm smashes auction reserves

A ‘perfect storm’ smashes auction reserves Save Share Four in five properties changed hands at auction over the past week, as buyers proved more than a match for a growing pool of listings and bid strongly past reserve prices. Sydney’s preliminary clearance rate on the weekend bettered the previous week’s, hitting 87.4 per cent. Melbourne was at 80.3 per cent, pegging level with a week earlier even as listing volumes more than doubled. Nationally, the clearance rate was a strong 83.2 per cent, with a total of 2232 auctions listed on CoreLogic’s preliminary tally. The volume of auctions expanded significantly on the week earlier, when 1587 listings had delivered a preliminary clearance rate of 84.5 percent. That result was later revised down to 80 per cent nationally.

Why? What is the significance of this instantly recognisable landmark?” Um, that it’s instantly recognisable?

Spiteful lack of empathy behind new DobSeeker

Spiteful lack of empathy behind new ‘DobSeeker’ We’re sorry, this service is currently unavailable. Please try again later. Dismiss February 25, 2021 — 12.02am Save Normal text size Credit: It appears the Prime Minister has an aversion to taking responsibility for his decisions (“JobSeeker rise an ‘all or nothing’ deal: Libs”, February 24). Now it seems that “the Australian people” are to blame for the measly increase in JobSeeker. He is probably right if we are prepared to accept this and the draconian conditions imposed. To add insult to injury, we are also expected to grass up sneaky people trying to subsidise, unsurprisingly, the amount. Good luck to them with attending all those interviews and getting nowhere.
