COLUMBIA (WOLO): Police are investigating after finding a man fatally shot in a car around 4am Sunday morning.
Officers with the Sumter Police Department say they were called to a report of shots fired when they found the car on Bultman Drive, near Walton Drive. They say the vehicle was struck my gunfire and the driver, 21 year old Kayaun Mytrell Daniels, was wounded.
Daniels was transported to Prisma Health Tuomey, where he was pronounced dead
The Sumter County Coroner’s Office notified the family and has scheduled an autopsy.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– According to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office, a Lugoff woman was pronounced dead on the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on Deschamps Road Wednesday morning. Authorities say 35-year-old Tiffany Smith, of Boulware Road, was traveling north bound on Deschamps Road near Patriot Parkway around 5:11 a.m. when the car ran off the left side of the road and struck multiple trees.
Officials say an autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. A Kershaw County woman was killed Wednesday in a single vehicle accident in Sumter County, officials say.
Tiffany Smith, 35, of Lugoff, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Sumter County coroner Robbie Baker.
The accident happened on Deschamps Road near Patriot Parkway around 5:11 a.m. Wednesday. Officials say the vehicle was was traveling north on Deschamps Road in Sumter County, when the car ran off the left side of the road, striking multiple trees.
An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday morning at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office are investigating the accident.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Sumter Police Department says a 23-year-old man is in custody after his infant child died from injuries officials deemed suspicious. On Sunday, authorities say the infant’s mother left the 11-week-old baby with his father, Dashun Malik Canty, and went to an appointment. When she returned, investigators say she found the infant unresponsive but alive. Police say the mother took the baby to Prisma Health Tuomey before he was transferred to a Columbia hospital where the family learned he had died.
According to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office, the baby suffered a head injury that they consider suspicious. Investigators say an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) - A Sumter father has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of his 11-week-old baby.
Dashun Malik Canty, 23, has been charged with homicide by child abuse and contempt of family court in an unrelated matter.
Officials say the mother of the newborn told them she left the baby with Canty while she went to an appointment on Dec. 13.
She said when she returned to her room at a Broad Street hotel the baby was alive but unresponsive.
