Governor Abbott Activates Resources As Heavy Rain, Flooding Threaten Eastern, Southern Regions Of Texas June 4, 2021 | Austin, Texas | Press Release Governor Greg Abbott today activated numerous resources to assist South, East, and Southeast Texas communities that are expected to receive heavy rain and flooding through the beginning of next week. Severe storms are also forecasted across West Texas on Sunday afternoon and evening, including storms that could bring damaging winds and large hail.  This year s spring season has brought an unprecedented amount of rain and flash flooding to many of our communities, and I urge Texans throughout the eastern and southern regions of the state to remain alert to changing weather conditions and heed the guidance of their local officials, said Governor Abbott.
