STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. The Goddard Rd. Fire burning in Stevens County has jumped the containment line because of high winds.
The fire grew to 30-40 acres in size due to high winds.
According to the Stevens County Sheriff s Office, Level 2 evacuations have been put in place because of the movement of the fire. Level 2 evacuations mean to be ready to leave.
Level 3 evacuations are in place for Orin-Rice/Goddard Rd. intersection to unnamed road east of Scattergun Road and the intersection of Goddard Rd./Pleasant Valley to unnamed road east of Chamberlain Rd.
Firefighters Stop Three Grandview Spot Fires
Firefighters successfully stopped three spot fires from the Grandview fire northeast of Sisters. The spot fires jumped lines during the Red Flag Warning yesterday. As temperatures cooled and the humidity increased last night, firefighters strengthened the containment lines by beginning to cool the hot areas just inside the perimeter.
“The great work by last night’s crews will enable today’s crews to hold the perimeter of the Grandview Fire,” according to Oregon Department of Forestry’s Incident Command Team. The fire is estimated to be 5,971 acres and is 14% contained.
Two Oregon Air National Guard helicopters are arriving to support ground crews tomorrow. This extra assistance will aid firefighters in keeping the Grandview Fire inside the established containment lines.

As the country is hit by a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has charged the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) to rise to the occasion to prevent the potential spread of the virus.

As contact tracing of the index case of the dreaded Delta variant of COVID-19 continues in Oyo State, the State Incident Manager and Coordinator of the Emergency Operations Centre, Dr Taiwo Olabode Ladipo, said one contact got so far out of two possible contacts has tested positive and has been isolated at the state facility, while two persons were reported to have died of coronavirus in the state yesterday. x
