Under Biden s positive rating, some rotten underpinnings

Under Biden s positive rating, some rotten underpinnings Michael Barone © Provided by Washington Examiner On the surface, Joe Biden seems to be doing pretty well. But underneath, there are signs of problems, areas where partisan overstretch threatens the underpinnings of what some are hailing as the new order of things. Joe Biden enjoys 54% job approval, a good mark for a president at mid-term or facing re-election, but below the 100-day numbers of every post-World War II president except Trump. With a closely divided U.S. House, and with redistricting this year, the political parties will be battling for every seat. Local and Washington, D.C., pundits are assessing the situation. We join in on the fun. The respected Cook Political Report recently analyzed the nation’s congressional districts based on presidential election results. It concluded all of Utah’s seats are among the “most Democrat-trending” districts. Is this just some statistical quirk or is an actual trend occurring?

Loss of congressional seat to affect upstate districts; State reviewing legal options to challenge headcount

Loss of congressional seat to affect upstate districts; State reviewing legal options to challenge headcount | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 ALBANY – New York’s loss of a congressional seat due to the 2020 census will again set off a once-a-decade game of musical chairs among those currently holding the state’s congressional seats, and continue what political observers think will be a shift of political power from upstate to downstate. With the Census Bureau saying the state fell just 89 people short of keeping all 27 seats, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said the state is weighing its legal options to challenge the outcome. “Obviously, it’s not desirable. The last thing you want to do is lose representation in Washington,” he said.
